Acura Car Quotes
Acura was introduced in 1986 as the luxury brand of Japanese manufacturer, Honda. Their lineup includes luxury sedans and coupes, sports cars, and sport-utility vehicles. Most share platforms and engines with parent company Honda products. Acura consistently ranks high in customer satisfaction polls, placing third in the 2002 J.D. Power study.
The 2005 Acura MDX offers new colors and features, including HandsFreeLink™ and XM® Satellite Radio. The Acura MDX has upgraded the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®), Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition™, OnStar® and Acura/Bose® 6-disc, and in-dash CD changer that is available on all touring models equipped with Navigation System. The Acura MDX shares its basic design with the Honda Pilot SUV. Like the Pilot, the Acura MDX has three rows of seats, but holds seven passengers vs. Pilot’s eight, and has slightly less cargo room. Acura MDX shares Pilot’s V6 engine that produces 265 hp, 5-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive without low-range gearing. The Acura MDX has electronic “drive-by-wire” throttle and a standard antiskid system. 17-inch alloy wheels, front side airbags, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, rear air conditioning, leather upholstery, and heated front seats are all standard on the 2005 Acura MDX. Uplevel Touring models add a power passenger seat, in-dash CD changer, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. An available navigation system returns with new voice control and 3D graphics, and its dashboard screen now serves a rearview camera, which shows what’s behind when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Finally, the Acura MDX offers its first rear-seat DVD entertainment option; it includes headphones and remote control.
The mid-engine sports car, the Acura NSX, remains unchanged for 2005. The Acura NSX comes with a lift-off “targa” roof panel, a 290-hp 3.2-liter V6, and a 6-speed manual transmission. A 4-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift feature is available by special order and teams with a 252-hp 3.0-liter V6. Standard are ABS, traction control, and 17-inch wheels, plus leather upholstery, keyless entry system, and trunk-mounted CD changer. Side airbags are unavailable.
The Acura RL has a redesign style for 2005. Acura’s flagship sedan is four inches shorter in wheelbase and overall length than its 1996-2004 predecessor, but gains standard all-wheel drive, more power, fresh styling, and additional safety and convenience features. It comes in one trim level with no options. The sole engine is again a 3.5-liter V6, but with 300 hp vs 225. The only transmission is a 5-speed automatic with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters for manual operation. Acura calls the AWD system Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). It is designed to transfer power to the outside rear wheel in turns to help rotate the Acura RL around a corner. Front side airbags and head protecting curtain side airbags are standard. So are antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, antiskid control, steering-linked xenon headlights, and keyless access and ignition. Also included is the AcuraLink system, which displays maintenance reminders, operating tips, diagnostic information, and vehicle recalls on a dashboard screen. A navigation system is standard and can alert the driver to traffic conditions and accidents in major urban areas.
Slight changes to the styling and sporty-model upgrades are on tap for Acura’s entry-level car this year. The Acura RSX is a 2-door hatchback coupe sold in base and higher-performance Type-S trim. Both have a 2.0-liter 4-cyl engine. The 160-hp base model offers 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmissions. The Type-S comes only with a 6-speed manual and for ‘05 gains 10 hp, to 210. Both get revised suspension, steering, and brakes, plus a minor facelift, more heavily bolstered front seats, and extra interior accents in chrome and faux titanium. The Type-S has a firmer suspension, and for 2005 increases wheel size to 17 inches from 16. The base model retains 16-inch wheels. Every Acura RSX includes antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and front side airbags, sunroof, and heated mirrors. Leather upholstery is standard for the Type-S and available on the base. Type-S also comes with an in-dash CD changer and adds a rear spoiler for 2005.
Acura’s best-selling car gets no changes of note for 2005. The Acura TL is based on the Honda Accord platform, but has different styling and powertrains and more upscale features. The only engine is a 270-hp V6 with a choice of a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift gate or a 6-speed manual. Acura TLs with manual transmission include a firmer suspension, Brembo-brand front brakes, and limited-slip differential. They’re also available with performance tires instead of all-season treads. Every Acura TL comes with 17-inch wheels, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, antiskid system, plus front side airbags and head-protecting curtain side airbags. Also standard are leather upholstery with heated front seats, aluminum interior trim, sunroof, satellite radio, and an in-dash CD changer that plays DVD-Audio discs. The Acura TL also comes with Acura’s HandsFreeLink, which employs the audio system as a hands-free, wireless link to cell phones. A navigation system with voice command is optional.
The Acura TSX gets several new standard features including a satellite. The Acura TSX is a premium compact slotting between Acura’s RSX coupe and Acura TL sedan. A 200-hp 2.4-liter 4 cylinder engine teams with a 6-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed automatic with manual shift gate. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, antiskid system, and 17-inch alloy wheels are standard. So are head-protecting curtain side airbags and front torso side airbags. The Acura TSX also includes leather upholstery, sunroof, automatic climate control, tilt/telescope steering wheel, in-dash CD changer, power driver seat, and xenon headlamps. Besides satellite radio, the ‘05 models add a power passenger seat and heated power door mirrors. The only option is a navigation system, which is priced as a separate model and includes voice recognition for some navigation, audio, and climate functions. Also for ‘05, night lighting is added to the standard steering-wheel audio/cruise-control buttons.
